Planning on spending Easter on Islay this year? We’ve lined up some of the best things to do over the bank holiday weekend, for all ages.

Hit the beach

Islay is home to some of the most beautiful beaches outside the Caribbean – we’re not kidding! Fine white sand, crystal-clear blue waters; you’d be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere exotic. If you’re bringing the whole family on your Easter in Scotland break this bank holiday weekend, why not head for Kilinallan Beach? The kids will love spotting the seals here. Or take a stroll to Machir Bay (Kilchoman Beach) with is 2km of fine white sand. For surfing, Kilinallan or Lossit Bay both offer spectacular waves.

Go pony trekking

With miles of unspoilt scenery, beautiful beaches and peaceful, single track roads, Islay is ideal for pony trekking. You’ll find companies offering organised tours on Islay, regardless of your level of ability.

Tour the distilleries

No Easter 2019 trip to Islay is complete without touring at least one of its nine distilleries. Scotland’s smallest distillery, Kilchoman, is also Islay’s smallest. Come for a tour and tasting or enjoy lunch in the café. Or book a bespoke whisky tour of the south coast’s distilleries, from Laphroaig and Jura to Bowmore, Islay’s oldest distillery.

Sample seafood pizza

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a delicious handmade and stretched pizza made with locally sourced Islay produce at Peatzeria. With views over Lochindaal, our inventive menu features plenty of seafood. To book a table or find out more call us on 01496 810 810 or contact us here.

Try a Bradan Rost (hot smoked salmon) and smoked mussel pizza. Or chow down on an Islay lobster pizza with a glass of chilled white. For the kids, we’ve got all the usual favourites, like pepperoni and Margherita too. Book a stay at Islay Cottages and you’ll get 10% off your food bill! Islay Cottages offers self-catering holiday cottages within easy reach of the island’s sandy beaches and distilleries, in Kilchoman and Bowmore.

If you’re coming for Easter on Islay, there’s no shortage of great things to do both indoors and outdoors. Whatever the weather, you’re sure to have an amazing Easter in Scotland!
